AsylumWorks Volunteer Opportunities

Employment:

Job Readiness Training
Volunteers support participants during a week-long virtual training. Volunteers facilitate breakout sessions with asylum seekers to practice a variety of skills and strategies including practicing small talk, resume building, conducting mock interviews, and much more. Trainings occur every three months.

Informational Interviews
Professionals volunteer to conduct 45-minute informational interviews with asylum seeking professionals that share similar career trajectories. This is an invaluable way for asylum seekers to gain information on their field of choice, while also rebuilding their professional networks. Volunteers are encouraged to share further networking opportunities.

Community Program:

Community Get Togethers
Volunteers are invited to participate in monthly Social Saturdays, field trips, and more. Meet with our AsylumWorks clients and their families and connect with the local community.

PRISM (Pride Refugee & Immigrant Support Meet-up)
LGBTQ+ identifying volunteers are welcome to connect with our PRISM clients in various programs including advocacy engagements, monthly dinners and field trips.

Supply Deliveries
Volunteer drivers are needed to help us deliver items to  homebound clients around the DC area. Items to be transported range from clothes and toiletries to prepared meals and dry food. Access to personal transportation is required.

Resource Drive & In-Kind Donations
We have a continuous need for new toiletries, hair care products and accessories particularly for African hair, and particular food items. There is a seasonal need for new cold weather gear such as socks, gloves, scarves, and hats.

If you have any questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@asylumworks.org
